Factory paint
Will a wrap damage the paint? What happens when it comes off?
The real question when you order a full-cover wrap isn’t “does it look good” — it’s: when it comes off in a few years, will the factory paint still be there?
Straight answer: healthy factory paint, film applied properly, removed properly (with heat, no steel blade) → intact paint is the normal outcome. Not a miracle, not a rarity either. TXD doesn’t promise “100% of bikes, every time” because TXD doesn’t install or remove wraps — the installer’s skill and the condition of the paint are what decide it.
Does wrapping damage the paint?
No, as long as the paint is well bonded. The wrap even protects it from parking-lot scratches and the sun. Applying a wrap doesn’t lift sound paint by itself.
Stop, or ask the installer first, if:
- It was repainted a few weeks ago and still smells of solvent — wait (usually 3–6 weeks; ask the painter).
- The paint is peeling, blistering or chalky — fix the paint first. Any film will show the damage, and removal can pull the weak paint off with it.
Removing the wrap
Vinyl ages under the Vietnamese sun. After a few years a wrap usually won’t peel off in one piece the way new film does. Having to remove it in sections isn’t a failure in itself. The sun “bakes” the adhesive: a cold, forced peel is more likely to lift paint than a heated one.

Ask the shop before you hand over the bike:
- Have you removed old, aged wraps before?
- Do you have a heat gun or hair dryer?
- Do you have adhesive remover?
A shop that cuts straight into the paint with a knife: go somewhere else.
The technique installers use: heat just the section being pulled and pull slowly at about 45°; lift edges with a plastic squeegee; clean leftover adhesive with adhesive remover or isopropyl alcohol — never a metal blade.
TXD ships sets cut from a 3D scan. The removal and paint checklist is on the “Before you wrap & when you remove it” page. Message us on Zalo if you’d like to send photos of your panels before ordering.
Message us on Zalo with your model + design code. TXD confirms the fit — we don't install.
